Catholic Charities connects with veterans at “The Next Chapter” networking event
Northampton Community College recently hosted The Next Chapter: Military Affiliated & Community Network Event, bringing together veterans, service members, military families, employers, and community partners for an afternoon of connection and collaboration.
Held on February 6 at the College Center, the event focused on education, employment opportunities, and strengthening the regional military-connected network. Attendees engaged with mission-aligned organizations, explored resources to support transition and career goals, and built relationships that extend service beyond the uniform.
Representing Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown was Kevin McCloud, SSVF Case Manager. Through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, Catholic Charities assists veterans who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness by providing individualized case management, housing stabilization, and connections to critical community resources. The SSVF program is available throughout Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill counties.
Throughout the afternoon, Kevin met with veterans and partner organizations to share how SSVF can help remove barriers to stable housing and long-term self-sufficiency.
“Many veterans don’t realize support is available before a crisis becomes overwhelming,” Kevin shared. “Events like this allow us to meet people where they are, build trust, and remind them they don’t have to navigate housing or financial challenges alone.”
His presence reflected Catholic Charities’ continued commitment to walking alongside those who have served our country, ensuring they have access to the stability and dignity they deserve.
Catholic Charities is grateful to Northampton Community College for hosting this important initiative and for strengthening partnerships that help veterans confidently step into their next chapter.
