Bishop Schlert Dedicates Our Lady of Charity Chapel

Posted January 22, 2024 in News

On Friday, January 12th, the Catholic Charities community joined His Excellency Bishop Schlert in dedicating a new chapel in our Administrative Office building in Allentown. The employees of Catholic Charities nominated Our Lady of Charity as the patron of the chapel, which Bishop Schlert approved, as a model and witness to our mission of providing compassionate human services with respect for the sanctity of all human life.

Our Lady of Charity Chapel will be used by the clients and staff of Catholic Charities to serve as a place of spiritual nourishment and a guide for our service to the face of Christ in the people we serve.

Andrea Kochan Neagle, Managing Director, noted that “having the Blessed Sacrament in a dedicated space, serves the need of both our staff and clients by offering a quiet, sacred place to bring to Jesus our frustrations and fears, as well as our gratitude. Dedicating this chapel was the last step in completing our move into our new administrative hub located in Seton Hall, 4th and Chew Streets, Allentown.”

Most of the chapel furnishings were kindly donated by various parishes throughout the Diocese, including Holy Ghost Parish, Bethlehem, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Lehighton, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, Holy Family Senior Living, Bethlehem, Sacred Heart Parish, Palmerton, St. Charles Borromeo, Ashland, and the Sisters of Christian Charity, Mendham, NJ.

"The counseling services that I received changed my life. They made me a better person."
