On a bright and sunny day at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Schuylkill County, a sense of hope filled the air as over 60 people gathered for the first Catholic Charities “Hope Grows Here” celebration. The celebration brought the Schuylkill community together and provided updates on the services offered.
Andrea Kochan Neagle, Managing Director, shared heartfelt updates about the positive impact the organization made in the Diocesan community as well as plans to expand services in Schuylkill County. She spoke passionately about the various programs and services that have been implemented to support those in need. The crowd listened attentively, their faces reflecting a shared sense of service to others.
As the updates unfolded, it became clear that hope was not merely a concept but a tangible force, cultivated through the efforts of the community and the dedication of Catholic Charities. The attendees felt a sense of purpose and unity, knowing that their collective contributions were making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Monsignor David James, Vicar General, warmly welcomed everyone and shared a blessing before the meal. While our guests enjoyed a delicious dinner, Andrea Kochan Neagle, Managing Director, announced the concept of an “agency without wheels” in Schuylkill County. The first step to this new initiative is mobile van for case management services that can now be offered throughout the county. Monsignor James then announced an exciting new program specific to Schuylkill County – a Catholic Charities food truck! We are one of only two Catholic Charities agencies in the country to have a food truck that can deliver hot meals to many of our friends and neighbors who might not otherwise qualify for conventional food assistance programs. This truck will be based in and travel to all areas of Schuylkill County once the program is up and running in the first quarter of 2024. Stay tuned to learn more about the Catholic Charites Community Café food truck!
After the informative session, the atmosphere was one of joy and camaraderie. Laughter echoed across the room as people connected and shared stories. The event provided an opportunity for the community to come together, not only to discuss the challenges they faced but also to celebrate the successes achieved through collaborative efforts.
With the sun casting a warm glow over the gathering, it was evident that this event was more than just an event—it was a celebration of hope, resilience, and the power of community. The attendees left the “Hope Grows Here” celebration with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that they were part of something larger than themselves, a force that could bring positive change to the lives of those in need.
