Bishop Schlert Blesses New Chapel at Catholic Charities Berks Office
Most Rev. Alfred A. Schlert blessed the St. Martin of Tours Chapel at Catholic Charities’ Berks Office. The chapel recently underwent complete renovation, with a new roof, refreshed interior, and a newly installed altar. Also present for this special celebration were Rev. Msgr. Thomas Orsulak, Deacon Tim Ferguson, Rev. Matthew J. Kuna and Rev. Stanley Moczydlowski. The blessing marks a meaningful milestone for Catholic Charities, providing a renewed and sacred space for prayer, reflection, and worship for staff and visitors.
St. Martin of Tours was chosen as the chapel’s patron because he is known as the patron saint of the poor and of soldiers, making him a fitting example of Catholic Charities’ mission to serve families in need and support veterans throughout the Diocese of Allentown.

Our work is rooted in the teachings of Christ and the Church, calling us to serve our neighbors with compassion, dignity, and love,” said Pam Russo, Interim Executive Director of Catholic Charities.
The new chapel provides a quiet and welcoming space where staff can pause to pray, reflect, and grow in their faith throughout the day. It serves as a constant reminder that every act of service begins with God’s love and strengthens our commitment to bringing hope and assistance to those most in need.
