A Labor of Love: Volunteer Builds New Altar for Our Lady of Charity Chapel
In the Chapel of Our Lady of Charity at Catholic Charities’ Allentown office, a beautiful new addition now stands as a symbol of faith, service, and generosity. A handcrafted altar for the chapel, lovingly built and donated by a dedicated volunteer, Justin Kaniper.
This act of kindness goes far beyond careful craftsmanship. The altar creates a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and renewal for both staff and those we serve. It is a place where burdens are laid down, hope is lifted up, and faith is quietly restored.
Justin generously offered his time and talent in an act of service, creating a handcrafted altar as a donation to Catholic Charities. Working with care and intention, he selected walnut as the foundation, beautifully complemented by a maple inlay that adds both contrast and meaning. What began in November 2025 as a simple idea grew into a labor of dedication.
After months of steady craftsmanship, Justin completed the altar in time for Easter—a fitting moment that symbolizes renewal, hope, and giving. His work stands not only as a functional piece, but as a reflection of faith in action, offering a sacred space that will serve and inspire the community for years to come.
Justin Kaniper is deeply involved in serving his community. Justin also serves with the Lower Milford Township Fire Company, which reflects his strong sense of responsibility and willingness to help others. Recently recognized with the “Exemplary Citizenship Award” from Lehigh County, Justin’s efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Justin’s gift is a powerful reminder that every contribution whether time, talent, or treasure plays a role in strengthening our mission.
Catholic Charities continues to be not only a place of service, but a place of peace.
