Choice, Dignity, and Hope: Catholic Charities Opens a New Choice Pantry

For families facing food insecurity, the experience of asking for help can feel overwhelming. At Catholic Charities, Diocese of Allentown, we believe no one should have to choose between feeding their family and preserving their dignity.

That belief is now coming to life in a powerful new way with the opening of our Allentown Choice Pantry.

Unlike traditional pantries, a choice pantry allows guests to select the foods that best meet their family’s needs, preferences, and dietary restrictions—just as they would in a grocery store. Parents choose foods their children will actually eat. Seniors select items that support their health. Waste is reduced, and dignity is restored.

This new pantry is more than shelves and supplies. It is a welcoming space where relationships are built and additional support is offered, including connections to case management, emergency assistance, and other Catholic Charities programs.

This milestone is possible because of you—our donors, volunteers, and community partners who believe that compassion should always come with respect.

You can help sustain this mission:

  • Volunteer your time to welcome and assist guests
  • Spread the word so families in need know help is available

When you support the choice pantry, you are giving more than food. You are giving choice. You are giving dignity. You are giving hope.
